Transportation Driver
Job Title: Part-Time Sample Transportation Driver/Microbiology Laboratory Technician
Location: American Fork, Utah (Only local candidaets will be considered)
Shift: Days
Pay: $15.00 an hour
Position Summary:
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented individual to support our microbiology laboratory through routine technical tasks and safe transportation of samples. This dual-role position involves assisting with basic laboratory procedures, ensuring proper handling of Finished Products, Raw Ingredients and Environmental Swabs, and transporting samples between facilities in a timely and compliant manner.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Transportation Driver one must be able to execute the following Tasks:
Collect, transport, and deliver finished products or environmental samples according to established safety and handling protocols.
Maintain accurate documentation for sample pick-up, transit, and delivery.
Ensure compliance with biosafety regulations during sample transport and laboratory activities.
Communicate effectively with laboratory staff, clients, and other team members regarding delivery schedules, sample issues, or delays.
Conduct vehicle checks and maintain cleanliness to ensure safe and secure sample transport.
Support general laboratory operations as needed.
As a laboratory Technician one must be able to execute all necessary functions toward completing:
Daily tests of finished good products to ensure material is within specified parameters before being shipped out to consumers.
Weekly tests on environmental samples (swabs and/or water).
These functions include:
Collecting, testing, processing, labelling, and processing samples using appropriate equipment.
Perform basic sample processing under supervision, following laboratory SOPs and quality standards.
Recording observations and interpreting findings in conformity to standard testing procedures
Recording test results and experimental data accurately in electronic or written format.
Assist laboratory personnel with routine microbiology tasks, such as media preparation, labeling, organizing supplies, and maintaining a clean work environment.
Arranging and storing compressed gases, chemical substances and fluids according to the safety instructions
Calculating and reporting test results to the Team Leader
Minimum Qualifications:
Strong Attention to detail and ability to follow strict protocols
Knowledge of laboratory instruments and good laboratory practice (GLP).
Proficiency with Technology (Computers).
Ability to effectively prioritize and organize sample workloads.
Minimum 1-2 years of experience working in a micro lab; training will still be provided
Working knowledge of microbiological principles such as PCR, media prep, aseptic sampling, enrichment, and organism identification.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office tools like excel, outlook, and word.
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Good communication and organizational skills.
Ability to lift and carry sample coolers and supplies as required.
Work Schedule:
Part-time hours: schedule may vary based on laboratory needs.
Occasional flexibility required for sample pick-ups or deliveries.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit, stand, and drive for extended periods.
Ability to handle light to moderate lifting.
