Job Title: Regulatory Affairs Manager
Reports to: VP of Food Safety
Compensation: $80K-$90K/yr.
Location: American Fork Utah
Hours: Monday – Friday 9AM-5PM
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement regulatory strategies to ensure compliance with State, FDA, CFIA, and emerging market regulations across all manufacturing sites.
- Lead research and discovery efforts for compliance in new markets like Mexico, South American, and Europe.
- Support efforts to develop and improve company policies as they relate to regulatory compliance or other business needs.
- Develop a new team of regulatory affairs professionals, providing guidance on regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Oversee the preparation and submission of regulatory documents, including food product registrations, labeling, and ingredient approvals.
- Coordinate with internal departments such as Quality Assurance, Research & Development, Legal, Marketing, and Sales to address regulatory issues and ensure alignment with company objectives.
- Stay updated on changes in food safety regulations and communication implications to relevant stakeholders.
- Manage relationships with regulatory agencies, including supporting the leadership team during regulatory engagements and meetings.
- Conduct risk assessments and provide recommendations for product formulations, new partners, suppliers, and manufacturing processes to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with external consultants, legal counsel, and professional associations to monitor industry trends and anticipate regulatory changes.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to regulatory compliance or other business needs
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting of regulatory compliance metrics to senior management.
- Serve on the Food Safety Leadership and Recall teams to ensure directional alignment with company and regulatory needs
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, Business, Education or other related field; advanced degree preferred but not required.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in regulatory affairs within the food industry, with at least 1 year in a leadership role.
- In-depth or functional knowledge of Department of Agriculture (UDAF preferred), FDA, CFIA, or other applicable regulations pertaining to food manufacturing, labeling, and distribution.
- Proven track record of successfully managing regulatory compliance for multi-site operations.
- Strong leadership and team-building skills, with experience managing direct reports and cross-functional teams.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with internal and external partners.
- Ability to develop and execute regulatory strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to align complex regulatory requirements and company policies
- Experience interfacing with regulatory agencies and conducting regulatory inspections and audits.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and similar software tools.
